We’ll be discussing gamification – the process of applying the elements of a game to a situation where they have not previously been used. In Part 1, we’ll be looking at what gamification is and why it’s useful, in Part 2 we’ll be looking at gamification in everyday life, and in Part 3, we’ll be looking at the gamification of politics (a topical issue, given this week’s US midterm elections).
As preparation, please watch the following videos (13 minutes total)
Video and slides below. Sorry that the slides had to be split into 3 parts, the last two of which being the loot box section. That was even after culling the loot box section to really center on the Battlefront narrative, as that focuses the storytelling better without missing any essential components.
Was very privileged to be invited to Frankfurt am Main, Germany to speak at the Frankfurt Edition of More Than Just A Game. Special thanks Dr. Andreas Lober and the law firm of Beiten Burkhardt for all of their considerable hospitality. It was great event.
Here is the Program, which may be a useful reference point when it comes topics for both in-class presentations and term papers.
Finally, attached below is an updated version of the slides I presented on the topic oid “Streaming (video-game) Boxes”.
